By Stephen Ssenkaba THE office, like the school brings all kinds of people together; the crazy ones, nerds, chatterboxes and of course, the rumor monger. But, it is not so much the character as the way each of these presents that makes or breaks life in the office.
Joe, the office chatterbox, is a big talker. He is opinionated, argumentative and quite domineering.
You will notice Joe at the office meeting because he speaks loudest and longest. He is passionate about his arguments. He knows as much about quantum physics as he does about the Bible. But when it comes to work, his input is only a fraction of his verbal output. He comes late to work and never accomplishes much.
Joe is like the proverbial clanging cymbal. Hupi, the office flirt, is the face of beauty around the office, the bright shade that colours her male colleagues’ office world. She dresses to impress and will come late to work so everyone will see and compliment her.
Hupi tends to waltz around the office often. If you cannot turn to see her, you will not miss the strong whiff of her Dolce and Cabana perfumes. She never gets much done in form of work.
Fredo, the ‘real man’, does all the unmanly things and then turns around to tell people how such a ‘real man’ he is. He is the embodiment of office hot air, more of a speaker than a doer.
Jimmy, the ladies’ man, is a wannabe casanova, going round sweet-talking and whispering sweet nothings into the ears of office ladies. He is smooth, mellow and tries to be witty. Whether the ladies genuinely care is another question.
Osh, the workaholic, reports to work early, sits in his corner and buries his head into his computer screen and punches the day away.
You hardly hear a word from him, except when he is asking for a punching machine to organise his file.
