Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) has temporarily suspended hiring contractors for city road repairs.

KCCA, executive director, Jennifer Musisi, said that companies contracted to do repairs have been charging exorbitant figures and offer shoddy work.

“We shall not award contracts for road repairs for a time being. They (companies) charge highly and render shoddy work. The road repairs will be done by our staff,” Musisi said.

She made the remarks at the launch of the city road repairs at Namirembe road in Kampala on Thursday evening.

Musisi said she is utilizing the sh10b that has been laying idle on KCCA account than returning the money to the treasury at the end of the financial year, next month.

She said they are using equipment from all the city divisions and only spend on materials.
