THE National Budget will be read on Wednesday, June 8 by the Minister of Finance, ministry officials have disclosed.

As New Vision has done for the last seven years, the “count down to the budget” column is going to be a daily read.

It will give readers a peek into this year’s budget, provide readers with expert opinion on what the Government should be considering and the public’s expectations.

In his “Shillings & Cents” column today, business editor Paul Busharizi discloses that the economy continues to grow, revenue collection is following a similar vein and that more money will be committed to corruption in this year’s budget.

“The budget reading is a far cry from the old days of price changes at midnight. The Government now seeks with broad strokes to set the agenda for the economy rather than deal with micro issues. Our job is to inform our readers about this and what it might mean to them personally,” Busharizi said.

The coverage will climax with the reporting of the budget in the New Vision issue of June 9, winding down with post-budgetary commentary and analysis days after.
