THERE was excitement at the Mubende community hall, when the area LC3 chairperson, Kizito Zziwa, presented a new ambulance to the residents.

“Even if I had lost in the elections, I would fulfill my pledge. This ambulance was given to us by our friends in the US,” Zziwa said.
This was at the swering-in ceremony for Zziwa and 18 councillors.

Zziwa said the ambulance was acquired through a twinning relationship between Mubende town and Tumwater City in the US.

“The people of America are sponsoring over 40 children in various schools. They have also pledged to give us a fire-fighting engine before the end of this year,” Zziwa added.

The ambulance was handed over to Zziwa by Matthew Russel, who represented the American ambassador.

Zziwa said over the next five years, the council leadership would work towards achieving a municipality status for Mubende town.

Zziwa appointed Specioza Nabagala as his deputy, while Nankya Gotta became speaker.
