Kiwanda also distributed free 20 litres of fuel to each vehicle to empower taxi drivers to start their business after months of lockdown.

Godfrey Kiwanda, the State Minister for Tourism, also chairperson of Non-Logistics Committee on the COVID 19 District Taskforce, has donated face masks and sanitizers to both taxi drivers and conductors.

Kiwanda also distributed free 20 litres of fuel to each vehicle to empower taxi drivers to start their business after months of lockdown.

"Distributing fuel is a sign of love since these vehicles have been home for a long time.

Let's continue  working together while observing all the health guidelines to curb the spread of COVID-19," Kiwanda said.

While sending off taxi drivers working in Mityana North Constituency, Kiwanda further advised them to observe the Ministry of Health guidelines and President Yoweri Museveni directives of transporting seven passengers, wearing masks, cleaning hands with sanitizers, water and soap to curb the spread of Coronavirus.

Kiwanda also advised taxi drivers to work with the Ministry of Works and Transport to ensure their safety and that of the passengers.

"You should not think that the Government is punishing you but all the efforts and initiatives undertaken are for the good of all of us in Uganda," Kiwanda said.
