PRESIDENT Yoweri Museveni over the weekend held talks with South African President Jacob Zuma whom he met in Nigeria, where they both witnessed the inauguration and swearing-in of Dr. Jonathan Ebele Azikiwe Goodluck as the 14th president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Without giving details, State House yesterday reported that during the talks at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, the two leaders discussed matters of bilateral and mutual interest between Uganda and South Africa.
According to a press release from State House, Museveni also separately received the Kenyan vice-president Mr. Kalonzo Musyoka and the Ugandan Nigeria Community Association in Abuja.
The Ugandans were led by the association’s chairman, Dr. Bernard Ndyanabangi, who is also the deputy country representative of the United Nations Population Fund in Nigeria.
The team, which included Dr. Paul Waibale, Dr. Lemi Kyomuhangi and Dr. Richard Enzama, congratulated Museveni upon his re-election and swearing in.
They discussed with him health sector issues and how their association could contribute to the improvement of the sector in Uganda.
Museveni thanked them for their desire to contribute to the improvement of the health of their countrymen and said he would link them to the new Minister of Health.
Museveni and with his wife, Janet Museveni, who returned home yesterday, joined over 30 other heads of states and governments who attended the swearing-in ceremony. The ceremony was held on Sunday at the Eagle Square, in Abuja.
