Akope claims 2nd place in Burundi

VICTORY on the international scene this season continued to elude Uganda professional golfer player Deo Akope as he settled for second position in the Burundi Open in Bujumbura over the weekend, reports <b>Douglas Mazune.</b>

VICTORY on the international scene this season continued to elude Uganda professional golfer player Deo Akope as he settled for second position in the Burundi Open in Bujumbura over the weekend, reports Douglas Mazune.

Akope, the only Ugandan who has consistently given Kenyans a run for their money in the professional ranks, scored a four-day aggregate of 292 for a share of second place with Kenyan Richard Ainley. They were eight strokes behind winner Dismas Indiza, who claimed the $1500 (sh3.6m) top cash prize, in the event that attracted 30 professionals from eastern Africa.

Dar es Salaam based Zimbabwean Farray Chitengwa who led on day two, finished fourth.
