THE Nabagereka of Buganda, Sylvia Nagginda, has launched the international Kisaakaate 2011 for international schools under the theme “Culture nurtures good leadership”.

Speaking during the ceremony at Vienna College Namugongo last week, she said the Kisaakate aims at educating and sensitising students in international schools how to observe the Kiganda culture.

The programme was started by the Nabagereka development foundation to assist boys and girls between six and 18 years of age to learn and value their culture.

Nagginda observed that it was becoming increasingly difficult for young girls and boys, especially in international schools, to integrate modernity and culture, making the Kisaakaate relevant to nurture them.

The deputy Katikkiro of Buganda, Ahmed Sekimpi, appealed to parents and companies to support the programme as a way of fighting moral decadency taking root in Uganda.

Buganda’s state minister for Protocol, Kabuuza Mukasa, said Kisaakaate international is necessary in building unity.

Vienna College head teacher Mohammed Kakiika praised the Nabagereka for the initiative.

Students from different countries, including Rwanda and Burundi, are attending the camp.
