EDITOR: Yesterday, Omoding Epulu wrote a letter entitled "Why has UNRA ignored Seeta-Namugongo Road?" The Seeta-Namugongo road is one of the roads taken over last year by UNRA from the district authorities.

Many such roads taken over by UNRA had been neglected over the years and the process to upgrade them to national standard has just started.

While the section from Kireka to Namugongo is tarmac, the Namugongo-Seeta section is still murram. Unfortunately, upgrading this road to tarmac will come at a later date when funds are available.

The current works only involve periodic maintenance. UNRA manages over 20,000km of national roads and only 3,500km of them are tarmac.

That shows that the demand for tarmac roads in our country is still high. Nevertheless, this road will be tarmacked in future because of its importance.
