Our currency is most disappointing

I am very disappointed at the rate our currency is depreciating. Look at countries in the East African Community like Kenya and Tanzania; they have better currencies.

One would say that they have a coastline but that is not an excuse because even Rwanda and Burundi have stronger currencies than us yet our gross domestic product is better than that of Burundi. We are the same people who boast of a ‘robust’ growing economy yet the inflation keeps on rising and the dollar just appreciates against our currency.

We boast of the best education system in East Africa yet our economists have failed to contain the inflation. I think something is fundamentally wrong somewhere. We might wake up when it is too late. Surely, Uganda should be doing much better than that!
