Hanging out with Santa Anzo

SOLOMON Tazibone, a third year student of microfinance at Kyambogo University, confessed he fantasised about the meeting night after night when Blitz gave him a call to go hang out with fashion icon and model Santa Anzo.

This is because it took so long for the meeting to materialise. Well, he finally got his heart’s desire when he met Santa for three hours at the Serena Hotel. He talked to Duncan Kushaba

Dude, you seem so excited. What’s up?
‘Excited’ is an understatement; I was hypnotised by her presence.
Tell us, how hypnotic did you get?
I was really taken up, man. You know, Santa is the kind of woman I have fantasised to meet for a very long time. I am a very fashion-conscious guy and her designs have always done it for me. Her designs are African and that I really like.

Are you a designer yourself?
Well, not exactly but I am planning to venture into that kind of business when I am done with school. I have a few samples of my designs and trust me, I have never been this determined.

Well, good for you, brother. So, did you guys talk about fashion all through?
I have never met a person as humble and apologetic as Santa. You know, I have been waiting to meet Santa for months now and the first thing she did when she met me was to tell me how sorry she was.

Of course, I understood she is a very busy person. Santa is a fashion designer and I am an aspiring fashion designer, so yes, most of the talk revolved around fashion. She is such a carefree lady that she told me about her love life……

Hold it! That is my favourite part, so slow it down and tell us what she told you exactly.
Why? Do you have any designs on her?
Just tell us, what did you guys talk about her love life? Do you like her yourself?
Gosh! You won’t quit, will you? And no, I don’t like her the way you are insinuating, I respect her. Okay, she told me about her 10-year-long relationship.
What? 10 years?

Yes, she has been dating this guy for 10 years. What is creepy about it is that she has no kid with him and they are not getting married anytime soon.

Why? Did she tell you?
Should I really tell you about this? For some reason I think I will be saying too much.

Dude, I brought you here, so you have no option but to tell me what really went down.

I will tell you but promise you will keep it confidential. I know you journalists.
I cross my heart.
She told me she had been dating this marine guy for 10 years and since he works in the US, he has found it so hard to come to Uganda to start a family.

Since Santa’s business is here in Uganda, she could not afford leaving it behind for a family with him in the US. So, they decided to drop the
relationship, but amicably. She speaks about him with such calm. He must have been one guy who did a lot for her.
Is she single?
Yes, she is absolutely single. But don’t ask me if I am going to do anything about it.

What else did you guys share?
She also told me that she is a princess from some chiefdom in West Nile and how she is proud of it. And oh, in her teens, she never thought she would ever date a black man.

Before she met the marine, all she ever saw were white men. President Museveni is her guardian angel, can you believe it? She said he treats her as his own daughter.

Any last words?
I am sure Anzo and I are going to be the best of friends. For that reason, I thank Blitz for being patient with Santa despite her busy schedule. Thank you guys, you are the best.
