WE caught up with Jackie Atim, a business woman, at the cocktail party in Kampala. As the occasion demanded, most of the guests turned up dressed in classy outfits exclusively suited for a cocktail party.

Atim’s style is a blend of different designer items which can only be accessed in plazas and boutiques. We compare her high-end designer fashion outfit and jewelry to other similar available outfits in shops and open markets in Kampala.

Jumpsuit
Atim is definitely spot-on on this one. “Jumpsuits and ankle boots are the latest fad in party wear right now. The outfit is up to date with fashion. Jumpsuits are still a rare item on the market and cost quite a bit.

The special thing about jump suits is that they flatter the body and are also extremely comfortable,” says Harriet Mukisa, a fashion designer.
Atim says her jumpsuit is a genuine Jaldini design (an Italian fashion brand design). She bought it from an uptown boutique in Kampala.

Jumpsuits made from viscose and elastic like Atim’s are not easily available and never last on the shelves. More casual jumpsuits, made out of less luxurious fabric, can be found in boutiques around Kampala for sh80,000.

Bag
It is possible to find a look alike of this Silver shiny evening handbag for about sh50,000.

Jewelry
Atim’s jewelry is made of sterling silver, by Jaldini. Mukisa says silver is a perfect complement for black evening attires. The earrings cost Atim sh85,000; the bangle sh100,000 and the necklace sh120,000 at an upmarket store.

But you can have all these accessories for so much less. Accessories stores in Plazas and shops in Kampala have silvery earrings at sh15,000; bangles at sh10,000 while necklaces go for sh25,000.

Shoes
Ankle boots are another new frontier in trends for evening and cocktail wear. The trend is in vogue for dinner parties and cocktails. These match so well with jump suits and short evening dresses. Want the boots for less? Try shops around Kampala Road. They cost about sh85,000.
