A 35-year-old mother of three over the weekend gave birth to four baby girls in Gulu but lost two of them.

Santa Adong, of Kabedo-Opong in Bardege division, Gulu municipality had quadruplets at her home at about 4:00am.

The children were delivered by a traditional birth attendant.

“I found the first child already out. I delivered the remaining three,” said Christine Auma, the traditional birth attendant.

The babies were later taken to St Mary’s hospital-Lacor but two of them died on Sunday.

Dr Sheila Oyella, the medical officer-in-charge of neonatal unit at Lacor hospital, said the babies were born pre-maturely at 6.5 months.

Oyella said whereas the first baby weighed 1.07kgs, the three weighed 0.8kg, 0.76kg and 0.87kg respectively.
