PROLINE FC has sealed a partnership with second division Spanish club San Roque de Lepe that will see a number of their players try their luck in Spain next season.

Proline secretary William Bakkabulindi said yesterday that under the deal, defenders Ivan Bukenya, Ronald Kisekka and striker Patrick Edema will move to San Roque next month.

Simon Mbaziira and 19-year old Alex Kakuba, who have been in Desportivo de Agueda in Portugal, are also transferring to San Roque.

Bukenya has just returned from El Hilal after Proline disagreed with their Sudanese counterparts over terms and conditions for the player. El Hilal wanted a permanent move for Bukenya while Proline wanted a loan deal.

“We hope to send a good number of players for professional careers and this deal is good for us. We wanted Bukenya to be given a loan deal but Hilal wanted him permanent,” Bakkabulindi said yesterday.

Sulaiman Matovu, whose three months loan deal at Ethiopia’s St. George runs out at the end of this season, is also expected to join his colleagues in Spain next month.

Proline, which joined the Uganda Super League two seasons ago, has taken centre stage in seeking professional careers for their players.

Bukenya was over the weekend voted fans’ best player, Richard Luyima was player of the year in a retreat organised by the club in Jinja.
