The commission of inquiry into Uganda Wild Life Authority (UWA) on Friday morning quizzed Moses Mapesa, the former wildlife body boss over alleged mismanagement of funds.

The inquiry headed by retired Supreme court Judge Prof. George Kanyeihamba is investigating the loss of over sh70b meant for the Protected Areas Management of Sustainable Use (PAMSU) project. PAMSU is a donor project run under the UWA.

Mapesa was quizzed over failure to supervise activities and management of PAMSU fund.

He defended himself against the allegations but conceded having made a mistake in sanctioning facilitation for World Bank officials when they were visiting national parks.

The commission is also probing the loss of the funds meant to facilitate the development of infrastructure in national parks and train UWA officials between 2002 and 2008.
