SC Villa longest serving secretary Edward Luyimbazi Mugalu will be honored by the sports fraternity in a requiem mass at Christ the King at 10am, Tuesday before he is laid to rest at Lufunve, Mukono district at 4pm.
Mugalu, an architect of the SC Villa successes that included 14 league titles and 9 Cups, succumbed to internal complications that included prostate cancer and Kidney failure in the early morning hours on Monday at Kampala Hospital, Kololo.
The SC Villa club leadership led by president Fred Muwema and club board member of directors Ahmed Omar Mandela and Franko Mugabe yesterday confirmed that SC Villa will take over all the burial arrangements.
His administration skills saw him do the day today work of the club which was the background of the club’s success.
“His works can be seen. Last season when SC Villa players were on strike, he moved places, jumped on boda bodas just to see that the club could have the basic team to honour their matches,†said Muwema. Mugalu was part of the administrators who formed Nakivubo Boys after Express was banned in 1979.
The Club was first known as Nakivubo Boys, before it was renamed Nakivubo Villa, and finally SC Villa, a.k.a. Jogoo (Big Cockerel).
