Govt urged on SACCOS money
The Government should release money in time to support savings and credit cooperative organisations (SACCOs) in the fight against poverty among the communities. State minister for water Betty Bigombe made the appeal while launching Guruguru and Jimo SACCOs in Lamogi sub-county, Amuru district on Sunday. Bigombe handed over certificates of registration to the two SACCO groups. She remarked that sometimes the Government delays to release the money which affects the borrowing and paying back of loans by the members.
Koboko passes sh12b budget
Koboko district council has passed a sh12.95b budget for the 2011/2012 financial year. The budget, under the theme ‘promoting economic growth, job creation and improved service delivery’, was presented by the secretary for finance, Stephen Sanya Mutto, in a meeting in the council hall on Wednesday. Sanya said 98.6% of the budget would be funded by the Central Government and development partners while 1.36% would be from local revenue. He said education, health, production and works would take the greatest share of the budget.
