Mamba Point knows the soul of the pizza person

FOR a place that is so easy to find, Mamba Point was not easy to find. I mean, it’s right there on the corner of Lumumba Avenue, but I got lost. The reason is that there is another place, also called Mamba Point, a little bit round the corner.

That other place is Mamba Point Restaurant and it was the one I landed at, instead of the actual intended target of this review, Mamba Point Pizzeria. The reason I am going on about this is that I do not want you to get confused and think my recommendation is for the former. I did not eat there. This is for Mamba Point Pizzeria, which I eventually got to at 1:30pm.

You walk in and are quickly confronted with a counter adorned with paintings of flowers. I am no connoisseur of fine art, and that is because of such paintings: they were really not that pleasant.

Thank goodness there was real vegetation around for those who like to look at flowers.

Ease past this counter and you find the dining area. There are tables for small parties, with four chairs each, and tables for large parties, with several chairs around them. This shows that Mamba Point understands the soul of the pizza person.

Very few people want to eat pizza alone. And there are plenty who want to make it a banquet especially when the pizza is this good.

Now, Mamba Point Pizzeria has a reputation. I have been told a number of times that it is close to the best in town, so that is what I was expecting.

Our waitress did not dally, but we had time to look around at the décor and muse at the smooth stones they place on the tables for reasons never explained before she arrived.

I am going through a phase where I do not eat pizza that is not calzone and I loved this one. Certainly one of the best in town. Our meal for two cost sh52,000.
