A day after the New Vision published a story of former Naguru - Nakawa estates tenants encroaching on Railway land in Kinawataka, Rift Valley Railways on Tuesday afternoon demolished the makeshifts and evicted them.

Uganda Railways chief executive officer, Emmanuel Iryamureme said they did not allow anybody to settle on their land.

Yona Kagurukye who led the operation under the commandant of Police said they will continue demolishing all illegal structures.

Jennifer Sikoma, 57, with three grandchildren cried as her structure was being demolished saying she spent some nights in the cold under a tree after they were evicted from the estate.
She was sad that her new home had been demolished.
