Vision Group has appointed a new team of mainly young journalists to editorial management positions to further strengthen the newspaper as Uganda’s leading daily.

Vision Group has appointed a new team of mainly young journalists to editorial management positions to further strengthen the newspaper as Uganda’s leading daily.
Announcing the new appointments on Thursday morning, Vision Group Chief Executive Officer, Robert Kabushenga, said the restructuring is also intended to reflect the dynamism of Uganda’s market by tapping into the young blood.
“This is in line with the demographics of the country, where 56% of the population is below 18 years,†he said.
Kabushenga said the restructuring is also aimed at boosting creativity, innovation and continuity in the group’s publications and other media platforms.
Cyprian Musoke is the new deputy news editor in charge of parliament issues. He replaces Felix Osike, who becomes investigations and enterprise editor.
Milton Olupot a long time senior political reporter is the new deputy news editor for general news. He replaces Sam Apedel now the business editor.
Edna Mubiru comes in as the new deputy business editor in charge of the Thursday pull-out.
Having graduated from Makerere University with a Bachelor’s degree in Mass communication in 2008, Mubiru has been the deputy supplements editor since September 2009, a position she assumed after serving as sub editor for a year.
Charity Ahimbisibwe takes over from Mubiru as the deputy supplements editor.
Esther Namugoji, formerly a Sunday Vision writer, takes over as Sunday magazine editor from Sydney Miria, the new deputy News editor in charge of regional news.
James Mukanga, who has been the chief sub editor for Sunday Vision, is now in charge of foreign news and will also coach fresh subeditors.
Charles Wendo, who has been Saturday Vision editor since its inception in July 2007, becomes the new editor for Sunday Vision. He is replaced by Hilary Bainemigisha, who has been his deputy.
Wanyama Wangah, who has been Sunday Vision deputy editor, takes over as the deputy editor Saturday Vision.
Lucy Parwot, who has been Her Vision editor, has taken over as Sunday Vision deputy editor and Jackie Wananda as the chief sub editor.
Others include Joy Abo, the new her vision editor and Isaac Omoding, the opinions editor.
Irene Besigiroha has been appointed the art director to support all newspapers and magazine design and supervise graphic designers.
Kabushenga said that the new young team will be assisted by the much more seasoned and professionally tested journalists.
These include Paul Busharizi, now contributing editor for both print and electronic media in the Vision Group. He will continue writing business articles.
David Mukholi, formerly a Sunday Vision editor, has been appointed managing editor to coordinate the editorial policy and standards of all the Group’s media platforms to ensure adherence to international professional standards.
According to Kabushenga, Mukholi is also charged with overseeing political coverage and political talk shows on the various radio and TV stations.
Contributing editor (society and lifestyle) Kalungi Kabuye, a long serving lifestyle editor, has been given a new mandate to guide journalists on lifestyle and celebrity articles.
