WHAT do you make of a show where Uganda’s best band shares the stage with Uganda’s top artiste?
Well, this was exactly the case last Friday at Hotel Africana during Eagles Production’s Ronald Mayinja Olina Kola album launch.
The show kicked off as early as 8:00pm with performances from female Eagles Production members who included Doreen Mutiibwa, Grace Semwogerere, Stecia Mayanja, and Maureen Nantume.
The night’s emcees Meddie Nsereko Sebuliba and Radio One’s Peninah Kabenge did a wonderful job.
At exactly 9:00pm, revellers were treated to a spectacular show of fireworks which lasted 10 minutes as Nsereko told the expectant audience that it was the man of the night to come next to stage.
But after the fi reworks, new kid-on-the-block in band music genre Chris Evans took to the stage and put up a spirited performance which wowed the huge crowd so much that revellers requested him for an encore of his hit ‘Ndikusasulaki. He obliged.
On came Iryn Namubiru who equally thrilled the crowd using the opportunity to announce her upcoming album launch on October 14 at the same venue.
After Namubiru, the much-anticipated man of the night clad in a black suit and a light pink shirt together with Rosa Uganda girls made their way to the stage at exactly 9:45pm and performed hit after hit.
“I want to be honest, I am nervous tonight because you have showed me that you love what I do by turning up in huge numbers. Thank you very much and thank you to all the sponsors,â€said the visibly excited Mayinja before Nsereko invited the guests of honour Hon. Ronald Kiggwe and Hon. Barbra Nekesa to join Mayinja on stage.
In attendance were city businessman Richard Nalima, Capt. Juma Seiko and Godfrey Nyakana, among other notables.
Both Hon. Kiggwe and Hon. Nekesa noted that Mayinja’s music is significant to the nation’s development because it carries a message especially to the youths. Hon. Nekesa gave an unspecifi ed amount of money to Mayinja while Hon. Kiggwe promised to see him privately.
Mayinja went on to perform songs like Entegetege, Landlord, among others before he crowned it all with his latest runaway hit Olina Kola which argues people to work harder and stop wasting time.
He left the stage after exactly one hour but everyone was satisfied with his performance but it was not the end of the show.
