SEVERAL Ugandans are held up in the continued riots ravaging the United Kingdom’s capital city London.

Rioting erupted in London on Saturday evening less than a mile from White Hart Lane after a peaceful protest against the fatal shooting of local man Mark Duggan turned violent.

Cars and buildings were set ablaze in the chaos, which spread to other parts of the capital on Sunday night.

Ugandans talked to said they live in fear and cannot move or go about their work freely.

Disorder was reported from Croydon, Clapham, Hackney, Camden, Lewisham, Peckham, Newham, East Ham, Enfield, Woolwich, Ealing and Colliers Wood.

Birmingham, Liverpool, Nottingham, Bristol and the Medway towns also reported violence.

Yesterday several Ugandans reported that for days, they had remained indoors for fear of being caught up in the unrest.

Moses Bbosa, a Ugandan resident in Haringey Council of Totenham, said his family had by yesterday spent three days holed up in their apartments.

“The bad economic situation is the cause of the rioting. Many people, including Ugandans, lost their jobs and this explains the looting,” Bbosa said.
