Blood-stained exhibits were displayed Wednesday during the trial of Lydia Draru, who is accused of murdering Maj. Gen. James Kazini after she clobbered him several times with an iron bar.

Prosecution led by Fred Kakooza, alleges that Draru committed the offence on November 10, 2009 at Namuwongo Project Zone, Wabigalo in Makindye Division, Kampala.

The fallen army commander and his girlfriend Draru, had a domestic brawl shortly after returning from an outing in the wee hours of the morning of the fateful day.

The blood-stained items included gruesome photographs taken by Police, and the hollow iron bar measuring 3.5 feet that Draru used to clobber Kazini several times.

Also tendered in were Draru’s blood-stained clothes plus her red shoes. Her dark blue pair of jean trousers, black blouse with white marks, and green T-shirt, had stains of Kazini’s blood.

Kakooza tendered in the items to show that Draru brutally killed Kazini. This was done to dispel her claim that she did not intend to kill him.

Draru’s lawyers are Annet Mutabingwa and Musa Ssembajja.

Two prosecution witnesses, a forensic scientist Andrew Mubiru, and the Police scene of crime officer Robert Icoot, testified and identified the items.

Prosecution witness number five Icoot, confirmed that visited the scene of crime, and collected the exhibits which he submitted to Mubiru for laboratory analysis.

During cross-examination by Mutabingwa, Detective Sergeant Icoot, 38, confirmed to court that he also drew a sketch plan of the crime scene. He also said he keenly observed that the sitting room was disorganised, which confirmed that there was a domestic brawl.

Sembajja tendered in a Kazini’s pistol as defence exhibit, as well as two photographs of Kazini’s Toyota Land cruiser that was parked outside Draru’s house.

This was to corroborate her statement that she hit Kazini after he had threatened to shoot her with his gun.Draru on Monday said Kazini shortly before she clobbered him, he was going to get his gun that was in he car.
