Nursery must start at 8:00am and close at 2:30pm
EDITOR: Reference is made to two letters published in New Vision on August 15 and 16 about Aga Khan Nursery School. The Ministry of Education wishes to inform the public that according to the school calendar, nursery schools are supposed to open at 8:00am and close at 12:30pm.
EDITOR: Reference is made to two letters published in New Vision on August 15 and 16 about Aga Khan Nursery School. The Ministry of Education wishes to inform the public that according to the school calendar, nursery schools are supposed to open at 8:00am and close at 12:30pm.
The ministry has instructed Aga Khan Nursery School not to implement the proposed afternoon programme unless it has given them permission upon submission of justifiable reasons.
The public is informed that Aga Khan Nursery School's programme is not in line with the school calendar. That goes for any other school.
The ministry will study the explanation and determine whether or not to approve the programme.The school informed the ministry that this arrangement was agreed upon with the parents prior to its implementation.
It is only the ministry that has the mandate to set the school calendar as well as the time for opening and closing of schools. For now, the policy still stands that nursery schools are not supposed to conduct any learning or teaching in the afternoon.
