Nsereko's rally
Kampala Central MP Mohammed Nsereko is one of the NRM legislators opposed to the proposed give-away of part of Mabira forest. Appearing on a radio talk-show, Nsereko vowed never to allow anybody to destroy Mabira, owing to the gigantic forest’s ecological importance to the country’s environment. He said he would organise a big anti-Mabirac giveaway rally at Kololo Airstrip, to which everybody was invited. But he added: “The rally is open to all Ugandans. It is only thieves that are not invited.”

Bukenya and Wine
Former Vice-President Gilbert Bukenya is candid about his love for singer Bobi Wine.
Addressing guests at the flamboyant singer’s wedding reception at Serena Hotel, Bukenya said he could not turn down his wedding invitation, owing to the warm friendship the two enjoyed. “I was delighted when Bobi Wine delivered in person my invitation card at my home in Lwantama. That is why I have ensured my presence here, despite my busy schedule,” Bukenya said. He wished the couple blessings of many children.

Chastity programme
Emmanuel Cardinal Wamala is a smart prelate with the ability to emulate the good programmes of the Government. Delivering his homily at Kitovu Cathedral on Sunday, Wamala said the Church had started a UPE-like programme, Universal Chastity Education, to ensure moral uprightness. “Universal Chastity Education will help us to be more serious Christians, which is why it should be supported,” Wamala said.

Mabikke's worry
Social Democratic Party President Michael Mabikke claims to speaking the truth even if it is bitter. At a radio talk-show on Saturday, Mabikke said the apparent misunderstanding between Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago and KCCA executive director Jennifer Musisi could easily be avoided if Lukwago embraced the culture of political honesty. “It is erroneous for the mayor to tell vendors to remain on the streets after Government has ordered them off. If government decides to deploy Military Police on the streets, can anybody still give our dear vendors protection?" he asked.
