FAVOURITE gospel artiste Wilson Bugembe is again flying high with Lengera Embaata, an 8-track musical album, whose songs are currently hitting hard on local FM radios.

In all the songs on this album, Bugembe balances spiritual issues and secular realities — he uses people’s experiences to deliver spiritual and social messages.

Bugembe also enhances his messages through his dramatic use of biblical stories, similes and metaphorical language.

The afro-dance hall title-track, Lengera Embaata (hey, look at the ducks there) is apparently the most popular song on the album. The song is based on the biblical story of the floods, which God sent to destroy the world on account of human sinfulness (Genesis 6-8).

In the song, Bugembe plays the prophetic role to persuade people to enter the ark, the symbol of salvation. Bugembe is nonetheless perturbed by the refusal of rational human beings to understand the security that the ark offers them. He wonders how sometimes animals can be more understanding than humans, who reject calls to safety, further to insulting the one that directs them to protection.

In a nutshell, Lengera Embaata is a call to reject sin and embrace Jesus’ salvation.

The song, whose video is also out, features popular city comedians like the late Jimmy Musisi and Kacapizo, who give it a more dramatic touch.

Olwaleero Mbaga is a wedding song that projects marriage as a beautiful gift, which nonetheless is preserved with mutual love, prayer and forgiveness. The song has a jubilant progression, which brings out the joy of marriage.

Bugembe also preaches patriotism through the song I am a Ugandan, which projects the beauty of Uganda. He highlights the country’s delicious dishes and wonderful environment, before beseeching Ugandans to be sane, peaceful and united.

Bugembe features Silver Kyagulanyi and saxophonist Isaiah Katumwa in Guma Omwoyo, which encourages people to seek divine deliverance through the power of prayer. Other songs on the album include Bamuyita Yesu, Ku Radio, Mmalirize Bulungi and Abantu, which is a prayer to God, to descend and deliver his people.

The recording of Bugembe’s album is the work of Producer Kiwah of X-Zone International.
