Congratulations. How does it feel being Miss Uganda?
It makes me feel lucky. I know Uganda has many beautiful girls, but for me to emerge as Miss Uganda 2011 makes me feel special. It has secured me a VIP position. Since Saturday night, my phone has been ringing almost every minute. People are calling to congratulate me.

What strategy made you win?
I am quick at learning. I learnt what others were doing and tried to be better at it. I first tried in 2010 and failed to make it. So, I came back having corrected my errors. But in summary, I attribute my win to three things; Good luck, my creativity and beauty.

Who was your biggest rival?
All the contestants were good. That is why I mentioned luck. All the girls were beautiful, creative and had equal chance to win. In fact almost half of them got prizes from different companies.

What is a secret behind your beauty?
None. May be I should attribute my beauty to God. I only maintain what God gave me by doing excises, taking time to work on myself and watching my diet.

Who is that lucky man in your life?
Currently, it may sound funny, but the truth is that I don’t have one though I cannot say I am searching.

But have you ever been in a relationship?
Yes I have, but it did not work out and I decided to run out of it.

What happened?
He was a gentleman, God-fearing and he cared a lot about me. So I don’t think it is good to talk ill about him. After all I have started a new phase in my life.

So what kind of man would sweep you off your feet?
He should be God-fearing, gentle and presentable. That’s all.

You did not talk about financial status.
I don’t consider money to be so vital because if you go for money while choosing a partner, you can get messed up. Money is very unreliable. So if you had loved his money and he became broke, you will not stay. How many men will you move on from? I think love is emotional. All you need in love is someone who understands your emotions, that is when it can work out.

As Miss Uganda, how will you handle rich men targeting you?
I am single, but it doesn’t mean I will go with whoever comes my way. I believe there is one man who God meant for me. Actually, we were even trained about handling such men while at the boot camp. So it will not be hard for me.

How did this pageant compare with Miss Uganda 2010?
In 2010, it was mostly about catwalk. This year, we trained in many things like entrepreneurship skills, handling money and relationships.

If given power what would you change about men?
Why should I change them? I can only try to influence their attitudes, for instance not to consider women as their property.

What should Uganda expect from you now?
Charitable projects and promoting morals among young girls. I would also like to take Uganda to another level in the Miss World 2011 contest.

The media reported that you used to be a pole dancer (kimansulo)
I have never been one. I saw the tabloid story and I don’t even believe it was my photo. I appeal to the media to do their work professionally. What they did was very unprofessional. We cannot partner in promoting change in our nation if the media doesn’t take their work seriously.
