Museveni promotes soldiers
PRESIDENT Yoweri Museveni, who is also the commander in chief of the UPDF, has promoted nine senior army officers, eight of them from the rank of colonel to brigadier.

PRESIDENT Yoweri Museveni, who is also the commander in chief of the UPDF, has promoted nine senior army officers, eight of them from the rank of colonel to brigadier.
Highest among the officers is the Joint Chief of Staff, Robert Rusoke, who was elevated from the rank of brigadier to major general.
The officers raised from the rank of Colonel to brigadier include, Brig. Kasita Gowa, Brig. Michael Okiding, Brig. Sam Kawuma, Brig. Moses Rwakitarate, Brig. Paul Lokech, Brig. Jacob Musajaawaza, Brig. John Mateka and Brig. Proscovia Nalweyiso, Uganda’s first female colonel and now brigadier.
Army spokesperson Lt. Col. Felix Kulayigye confirmed the promotions adding that: “They take immediate effect,†he said in an interview on Saturday evening.
