EDITOR: Once again kudos to Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) executive director Jennifer Musisi for ridding Kampala city of street vendors.

EDITOR: Once again kudos to Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) executive director Jennifer Musisi for ridding Kampala city of street vendors.

I would also like to remind the Lord Mayor of Kampala, Erias Lukwago, that Kampala does not belong to the 30,000 or so street vendors alone but to over two million people who need a clean and hassle-free environment.

Half of the vendors or more had stalls in different markets which they had abandoned and had opted for the streets! Therefore, Lord Mayor, team up with KCCA and clean up the city as was your theme during the campaigns. Put politics aside because you are now working for everyone not only your voters

.KCCA should designate particular stages for boda bodas because they too are a nuisance. Stages on Kampala Road like in front of Barclays Bank, Bank of Baroda, etc should not exist. If a customer is not allowed to park in front of the bank, why leave there a boda boda stage?

The traffic should also ensure that boda boda cyclists obey traffic laws like everybody else. I also suggest that KCCA should liase with the local government ministry and reintroduce graduated tax in Kampala district. The idlers will immediately disappear and there will no necklace snatchers or pickpockets.

Those who left the villages looking for greener pastures in the city will go back and engage in farming. We need more food in the city and even for export.
