THE Pearl of Africa Music Awards (PAM Awards) Eastern Regional launch nearly flopped after it was attended by a handful of revellers this year.

The launch was staged at Crested Crane Hotel in Jinja on Friday, but the few revellers who managed to enter were treated to a full blast of energetic performances from Dr. Hilderman, Henry Tigan and Phina ‘Masanyalaze’ Mugerwa.

Though entrance was sh5,000 per head, which people initially considered high, the show ended without any complaints from the fans apart from the delay in starting, which had earlier irritated them.

By the start of the show at about 10:00pm, a number of chairs were still vacant. But after the show kicked off, more people walked in and danced to the evening’s entertainment.

The artistes kept revellers on their feet. The region’s hot artistes, Mr. World, Marion, Mc Crazy, Street Five, Philippe, Via Kalikwani and Ivulungo, among others, graced the event with their hits. Najib of Apex FM and Lubowa Kyemba of NBS FM were the emcees of the night.

PAM Awards coordinator, Salim Nyonyintono, said the main awards ceremony will take place on November 10, at Lugogo Showgrounds.
