But after hours of the riot, motorsport drivers persuaded the fans after organisers waived the entrace fee. Entrance fee at the event was sh10,000.

Unhappy motorsport fans earlier rioted in protest of absence of big name drivers like Jas Mangat and Ronald Ssebuguzi whose presence at the sprint was prior advertised.

The angry fans stopped drivers from proceeding to the track and smashed windscreens of a car UAL 144T belonging to Southern Motor Club president Ponsianno Lwakataka, who has organised the event.

A New Vision Online correspondent covering the event said that it took Police intervention to save Lwakataka, who despite drawing a pistol at the fans failed to scare them away and rushed him to dispensary. Fans had threw objects injuring him.

"The fans are rioting. Hundreds of them are chanting against Lwakataka. They say that they are tired of the poor organisation by the same person.

Lwakataka was confined in a house before Police drove him away.
