Rwandan President Paul Kagame on Friday joined his Ugandan counter-part Yoweri Museveni  at a ground breaking ceremony for the re-construction of Mbarara-Katuna road at Uganda-Rwanda border at Katuna.

Kagame is in Uganda for a five-day visit. The Rwandan leader was last here for two days on December 11 for the Young Achievers’ annual gala at the commonwealth Speke Resort Munyonyo.

The Mbarara-Katuna highway is the last 124km section of the vital Northern Corridor route, which links the economies of East Africa and the Great Lakes region with the Indian Ocean.

The reconstruction of the 122m euro (Mbarara-Katuna) road was inaugurated by Museveni last month at Rwampara.
