Eight killed in Mbarara bus accident

Eight people have been confirmed dead and scores injured after a passenger bus swerved off a highway in Mbarara district.

Eight  people have been confirmed dead and several others left nursing major injuries after a passenger bus swerved off a highway in Mbarara district.

The  accident occured at Kayanja, Sanga in the western district of Uganda.

The Western bus Reg.No UAE 896U swerved off the road before overturning several times, leaving most of the onboard passengers' legs and arms chopped off.

Rumanyika James, OC station Sanga police told New Vision on phone that with the help of the residents, they are using the pangas and other tools to try save some passengers still alive

Other cases

There have been several fatal accidents along the Mbarara highway this year.

In late October this year, two students of Makenke Army SS were knocked dead by a pick-up truck as they rode on their bicycles while crossing the road.

 In July, three people died on spot and twenty others were admitted in different hospitals following an accident in Kachigani trading center along Ntungamo-Mbarara road. 

The accident involved a bus, Kasawa coach registration UAE 661 F, which collided with a trailer registration RAD 339K.

In October, a Lwengo Prison inmate died on spot and several other people injured after a pick-up truck on which they traveled overturn along the Mbarara-Masaka highway.
