UGANDAN golf ace Flavia Namakula has won the 58th edition of the Uganda Ladies Open in Kampala.

Namakula who fired a three-day aggregate of 223 beat Tanzanian Madina Iddi by five strokes to claim her second consecutive Uganda Open title at Uganda Golf Club on Sunday.

Namakula’s five-shot lead on the opening day made the difference in the highly tournament that saw competitors from Zimbabawe, Tanzania and Uganda record impressive scores. Iddi and Namakula had uniform scores in the second and third rounds.

“Madina and Claire Minter are great golfers. I enjoyed the level of competition that they brought to Uganda,” Namakula remarked shortly after hugging Iddi and Minter amidst cheers from spectators at the clubhouse.

Zimbabwean champion Minter was third-- seven shots off the pace having had a dismal opening round on Friday.

Namakula’s compatriots Eva Magala, Jasper Kamukama and Irene Nakalembe were sixth, ninth and 10th respectively.
