Ever since singer Jose Chameleone kicked off his singing career, the horse-voiced and pencil thin Ugandan afro-beat musician, has had several talented back-up singers. However, these back-up singers have had problems with Chameleone; all of them quit his crew known as Leone Island; but on bad terms.

The first back-up singer to quit Chameleone’s crew was Geofrey Kyagambidwa aka Chagga Yaga, who is a song writer and a talented vocalist. Chagga helped Chameleone so much in the days when he was the undisputable top Ugandan singer.
Unfortunately, Chagga was dismissed and separated from Chameleone, badly. The two fought badly and up to-today, they are adversaries.
After the dismissal of Chagga, Chameleone was chanced to get another golden voice; that was Moses Nakintijje aka Mozey Radio and Douglass Mayanja aka Weasel. These stayed with Chameleone for some time because they did not have any hit in their name. They only backed him. They traveled to western countries, singing alongside Chameleone.
The trouble started when they belted their first hit; Nakudatta. During their debut launch at Steak Out; Chameleone, who had been lined up to grace their launch, stormed out of the venue without singing. This sparked off the infamous ‘beef’ between Jose Chameleone and these young singers, who later named their crew Good Lyfe Crew.

However, it should be noted that Chameleone had many backup singer; some of whom are not worth a mention, but have also been dismissed dishonorably.
Immediately the Good Lyfe singers left Chameleone, he filled his Leone Island Crew with a group of young boys, who included Professor Big Eye of Suula Indicator fame; Ak47 aka Hammatone Mayanja, Chameleone’s youngest brother, Skelton; Tony D; Rama; Papa Cidy and many others. Among this group, AK47 and Papa Cidy, have had hits.
Now, like the previous back-up singers of his, Papa Cidy is facing the dismissal, but unlike his predecessor singers, the reasons here are clear.
Sources reveal that for the last two months, Chameleone and his latest best back-up singer Papa Cidy have been quietly feuding over land disputes. Knowing Chameleone, he is, he vehemently refused Papa Cidy to go and back him up on his US music tour with young brother AK47.
Papa Cidy allege that Chameleone grabbed his two plots of land at Bwaise which he surrendered to him as a surety until Papa Cidy could get the shs15m to pay off for the collaboration songs he had with him. Chameleone reportedly demanded for shs5m per collaboration song, which the Papa Cidy did not have. So he requested his father to give him a land title to two plots of land in order to kick start off his music career.
After the first song Tolina Kisa became a hit, Papa Cidy started gracing shows with Chameleone, and went ahead to record another duet titled Joselina with Chameleone, which also ruled all air waves. It seems with all the fame and money Papa Cidy forgot to reclaim the land title from Chameleone by paying off the shs15m; instead, he started buying posh cars and living life in the fast lane.
Mid this year the family started asking Papa Cidy for the land title back but kept dilly-dallying. After the Dubai tour Papa Cidy started begging Chameleone for the title but Chameleone laughed him off. Chameleone reminded Papa Cidy that he has been paying him instead of the other way round and that he had never received a shilling for the collaboration songs. Chameleone is not willing to give back Papa Cidy the land title because he believes it belongs to him as he was never paid for the collaboration songs and yet he has been paying Papa Cidy for his performances.
