SC Villa stand-in coach Joseph Kanaaba is yet to secure a win after three Uganda Super League matches he has been in charge but the Jogoos director of football is satisfied with the team performance.

After a  loss to Express FC and a draw with Firemasters with 4-4-2 formation he inherited from Srdjan Zivojnov, Kanaaba redisigned to adopt his own formation of 5-3-2 against Maroons at Nakivuo on Tuesday.

The closest he came to a win was when Idris Kaye, Herman Wasswa and Mawanda Muwadda blew up goal scoring chances with only the goalkeeper to beat.

“I have brought in a structural discipline in the team. At least I’m more satisfied with the team playing now than before,” Kanaaba noted.

On the other hand, Villa survived a Maroons assault some resulting from defensive lapses involving central defender Denis Guma including a last minute by woodwork by towering striker George Abege.

The record 16 times champions are now 11th on the super league table with 10 points from 10 games of which are draws.

The Jogoos have shortlisted four Europeans and two local coaches including Sam Timbe and former assistant coach Paul Nkata to assume the coaching job at the beginning of December.

Express lead the Super League table with 20points in 10 matches after a 3-0 wins over Victors on Tuesday.

Edgar Luzige was the man of the match with a brace. Both his goals shot through the ageing Wankulukuku net before Ibrahim Jjingo headed in a Julius Ogwang cross with eight minutes left.

Luzige’s second strike was from a penalty after Dennis Kizito rough tackled Bonney Baingana.

“Practice pays,” a celebrating Luzige said in reference to the numerous hours he invests in training. “Whenever I fail to score, I go back to the field to perfect my shooting.”

KCC were also in superb form pulling off a crucial away win over Simba. Andy Sekayombya got the winner off a Saka Mpiima cross ten minutes to recess.

Tuesday Uganda Super League results
