ANTI-riot Police on the 15/11/2011morning managed to quell down a demonstration by city traders along Nasser road who were protesting Umeme's 24hr load-shedding of their work places which they say has resulted in heavy loses.
The traders closed their shops and blocked Nasser and Nkuruma Roads using garbage cans and tires which prompted police to fire live bullets and tear gas to disperse the traders.
The protest started at 9am but police had by midday managed to intervene and restore calm after which power was subsequently restored.
Central Police station DPC Norman Musinga has blamed leaders of the traders who he accuses of organizing the protest.
