The first son Lt. Col Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s impromptu visit to the national football team the Cranes training session at Namboole energized the players, who have since promised to do their best to beat Kenya and qualify for the 2012 All Africa Games.

Led by the team captain Ibrahim Sekagya, who joined from Austria this afternoon, the players’ turns to shake hands with the first son, who said that his visit was meant to reaffirm government support for the team.

“I have come here to show that we are behind you. We all want you to win and qualify,” Muhoozi told the players in the dressing room.

The Cranes have attracted tremendous attention from Ugandans in all walks of life as they gear up for a must win Africa Nations Cup qualifier against regional archrivals Kenya on Saturday.

And is the first time the first son has stormed the Cranes camp to offer support ahead of a crunch game that could see the Uganda Cranes rewrite their history in over three decades of not qualifying for Africa Nations Cup.

Muhoozi had hitherto only been close to the Rugby Cranes.
