Uganda’s top weightlifter Ismail Katamba will launch his medal campaign at the East and Central Africa championships that start this weekend at Buziga Country Resort, Munyonyo.
The 2009 Africa Senior Championships bronze medallist, will be alongside seven other men in six categories (56kg, 62kg, 69kg, 77kg, 85kg and 94kg) and four women in four categories (48kg, 53kg, 58kg, 75kg).
“This is an opportunity for our weightlifters to showcase their talent and compete with foreigners as well,†said the game’s local federation president Salim Musoke. The tournament comes in handy for the weightlifters who were excluded from the on-going All Africa Games in Maputo.
