A new star was born on Friday when Nancy Cheptegei grabbed silver in the final of the 2000m steeplechase at the Isle of Man Commonwealth Youth Games.
It was Uganda's first medal at the ongoing Commonwealth Youth Games and showed Uganda's future in the steeplechase, which brought Dorcus Inzikuru "Inzzi" world fame, is bright.
Kenya's Norah Jeruto Tanui won in 6:28.10. Cheptegei came in second in a time of 6 minutes 36.41 seconds. Full results

Also in track and field, Halima Nakaayi is in the finals of 400m with the second best time. The final is tonight at 7pm.
In the pool, Jamillah Lunkuse and Ronald Segwanyi bowed out of the 100m freestyle and breaststroke respectively but will compete in the 50m breaststroke and vice versa.
Daniel Muhigo also fell to a Canadian in badminton.
