Payraise alone is not a solution

EDITOR: This is a message to all my fellow teachers. Increasing our salaries alone or laying down out tools may not solve our problems if we are to depend on salary alone. Increasing our salaries will only benefit the business community.

This is because the prices will increase exponentially wherever we buy anything.

If your school has a garden, till it to reduce the cost of food. We should negotiate with the Government to give us study leaves with pay. This will help us upgrade.

Teachers should be facilitated to buy building materials at factory price so that they can own personal houses to improve their standard of living.

Teachers be allowed to do appropriate business to generate income other than always waiting for salary. The Government should arrange soft loans for teachers. Many want to get loans but the bank interest rates are prohibitive. When teachers can teach without tears, the entire education system will improve.
