ACTIVISTS for Change (A4C) pressure group engages in terror activities and will not be allowed to hold their planned rallies in the country, the Police boss has alleged.
The Inspector General of Police, Maj. Gen. Kale Kayihura, said the force had received information that organisers of A4C were planning to overthrow the Government.
“I wish to inform you that the so called A4C intends to begin another spate of disruptive activities, particularly in Kampala Mukono, Jinja, Masaka, Mbale and Butambala†Kayihura told journalists at the Media Centre in Kampala yesterday.
“We have been following their mobilisation attempts in spreading sectarian, erroneous propaganda and inciting or attempting to cause disaffection and overthrow the Government†Kayihura added.
He said the Police had intercepted leaflets with inciteful messages that A4C had intended to distribute.
The Police boss also revealed that they had received information that there were youth trained in terror tactics in places like Afghanistan and that they had been recently smuggled into the country.
“There are others in Kenya who are in the process of infiltrating. Remember the 40 youth who were arrested in Kenya and handed over to Uganda†he said.
Attempts to get comments from Mathias Mpuuga, the A4C coordinator, were futile as his phone was switched off
The Police also advised the Kampala Central MP Mohammed Nsereko to postpone his rally, which had been planned for October 2 at Kololo independence grounds.
