Kenneth Mugabi pulls off tricky Live Online show

Apr 27, 2020

Mugabi performed songs from both his Kibun’omu album and The Ugandan album. He kicked off with the Kibunomu album, performing songs like Omusheshe, Ilene, Ritah and Mumuleete. This particular album has most of Mugabi’s hit songs, and the buzz online proved so.

When the going gets tough, the tough get going. Well, needless to say, a section of Ugandan musicians have already taken on the mantle of entertaining fervent music lovers, this time using online platforms.

On Saturday, Afro-soul musician Kenneth Mugabi staged his "Kenneth Mugabi Live Online" show. The weekend, which had on it several other shows like Navio's album launch and The Club Beats show, left a lot to be desired.

The big question thereafter was whether or not Ugandan entertainers are ready for a Live Online show, and clearly, some homework has to be done.

Back to Mugabi's show, that was supposed to start at 7:00pm, a number of hiccups overwhelmed the start of the show, forcing the artiste to kickoff 30minutes later.

Meanwhile, the buzz of complaints made by several fans who were watching on the Zoom App was becoming insufferable by the organizers.

Besides the unreliable internet that several subscribers to the show grappled with, the hiccups in sound, on-and-off video feed, were also unbearable, especially at the start.

Be that as it may, Mugabi finally kicked off with the show, performing with his guitar, and backed up with a keyboard.

Even though the sound of the guitar and keyboard were a bit louder than Mugabi's voice, he managed to weather that storm, and cleared up in the next song.

However, the poor sound transmission kept on distorting Mugabi's undoubted delivery.

From the Ugandan album, Mugabi performed songs like Ekigwo, Oliwa and Mukwano gwo among others. His touch on soul music could be felt and was appreciated by a couple of fans online, despite the imperfect sound.

Mugabi performed for over one hour, with a somewhat modest turn up online. Some of Mugabi's fans certainly scared off by the cover charge of sh5000.

On top of a hefty data bundle that they had to load to watch the show, a section of his fans were not ready to pay that money.
