Kania said Uganda has so many porous border points and warned the public against taking the law into their hands by attacking suspected cases.

ARUA-The state minister of Internal Affairs Mario Obiga Kania has urged people living along the borders to be vigilant at all times and identify and report people who illegally enter the country in order to combat the spread of Coronavirus.

Kania said Uganda has so many porous border points and warned the public against taking the law into their hands by attacking suspected cases.

"I want to warn the public to desist from discriminating against people suspected to be from abroad by attacking or killing them, instead one should report them to the nearest authorities", Kania said.  Adding that the public should not delay reporting anyone with suspicious symptoms similar to those of Coronavirus.

The minister assured health workers and security operatives that the government is in the final stages of procuring protective gear to support them in the fight against the pandemic.

"We have already discussed the issue of protective gear for our front runner officers like heath workers, Police, the army and LDU's because they are also vulnerable to the virus given their level of exposure to the public", he said

According to the minister, Uganda has several porous entry points across the neighbouring countries bordering her and therefore there is need for extra vigilance by both the public and the security operatives.

Uganda has already registered 30 cases of COVID-19 in about a week and the authorities led by the president are doing everything possible to ensure that, the spread of the virus is minimized.
