COVID-19 FOOD SECURITY
MASAKA - The Vice President, Edward Ssekandi has secured 600 bags of rice for the needy elderly and People with Disability (PWDs) in Masaka as a food security measure during the COVID-19 crisis.
Starting March 17, the rice was distributed in the villages of Kyanamukaka, Kyesiga, and Kabonela sub-counties in Bukoto Central Constituency in Masaka district.
The rice consignment was delivered by the Deputy Principal Private Secretary to the Vice President, Musubire Kityamuwesi.
Musubire handed over the rice to the NRM village chairpersons and LCs who identified the neediest elderly and PWDs in the constituency.
"We are reaching out to the neediest elderly and people with disability in the communities, the Vice President Edward Ssekandi found it necessary to provide them with food in this critical time," he said.
The Vice President said he will continue supporting all people regardless of their political affiliation.
"I do not segregate my people, I treat them the same, regardless of their deferring political party affiliations," he said.
Ssekandi, who was speaking to the New Vision at his home in Kizungu Masaka, said he will continue lobbying for support for the people of Masaka and elsewhere.
He asked the people to remain calm.
