With Kampala University (KU) coach Vincent Tumusiime off the touchline away to Uganda Martyrs University (UMU) in Nkozi, a tough test awaits the two-time champions as they search for their first win in this year's University Football League.

"We are trying so hard to correct our previous mistakes," said the gaffer.

"First being the mindset, from underestimating our capabilities, to knowing that we can win and then transfer that to the field where we are judged by our output."

The last time they were out, a brilliant KU squandered a one-goal lead to lose 2-1 against International University of East Africa (IUEA) in an action-packed contest.

Tumusiime's men put up a scintillating display in the first 45 minutes that saw them find the back of the net through Shamil Kimwero.

But an excellent quickfire comeback from IUEA saw the KU defence crumble.

Tumusiime was sent off after a confrontation with centre referee Alex Wasswa, who he claimed was officiating in favour of the home side.

KU now hope to bounce back from that devastating setback.

UMU, too, are also looking for their first win this season. The 2017 champions fell to Busitema by a single goal.

Any result short of a win in this fixture would put their advancement from the group stages in jeopardy despite being in the early stages of the competition.

On Sunday, Bishop Stuart University (BSU) take on fellow wounded opposition Makerere University Business School (MUBS). BSU were handed a brutal induction into this season, a 4-1 thrashing by last year's finalists St Lawrence University.

Seated at the bottom of group D, they now welcome MUBS who dropped points at YMCA, a team that has become a thorn in their side.

A draw would not help either team. It is a must-win for both if they are to qualify for the quarterfinals.
