Parliament summons ministers over cattle quarantine
Ministers General Elly Tumwine, Bright Rwamirama, and Joy Kabatsi have been summoned by the committee of agriculture over the quarantine and closure of cattle markets in Lwemiyaga.
This follows a petition by dairy farmers in Lwemiyaga that is before Parliament. While appearing before the committee, Lwemiyaga MP Theodore Ssekikubo alleged that Tumwine buys their cattle at a giveaway price under the disguise that the cattle have FMD (foot and mouth disease) and he later sells them to city abattoirs.
