Murder suspect dies in police cells

The Police in Rukungiri is investigating circumstances under which a murder suspect died in custody.

The Migezi Police Spokesperson Elly Maate has identified the deceased as Adios Naturinda, aged 30 years old.

He says Naturinda has been a resident of Bunono village, Bunono parish, in Nyarushanje Sub-County Rukungiri district.

Police say the deceased has been in custody over murder charges of one Pauson Muhwezi vide CRB 379/2020, which took place on the 22/02/2020 in Nyarushanje Sub County.

"The deceased showed signs of lunacy by talking uncoordinated statements from Monday morning and we rushed to Rwamahwa health center IV for treatment, unfortunately, he passed on in the evening," said Police.

Police adds that his body awaits transfer to Rwakabengo health center III hospital mortuary pending postmortem to establish the likely cause of his death.
