Global events affected by Coronavirus

Several events across the globe have been either permanently or temporarily suspended with organizers citing fears that they may become avenues that aid the spread of the deadly Coronavirus.

Several events across the globe have been either permanently or temporarily suspended with organizers citing fears that they may become avenues that aid the spread of the deadly Coronavirus. The events range from sporting to entertainment and lifestyle shows. The pandemic has so far affected about 89,240 people in over 40 countries.  The most affected continents in this case are mainly Europe and Asia where thousands of cases have been reported in the recent past.

Music Shows Cancelled: 
Among the canceled events is UK grime star Stormzy, R&B singer Khalid's show in Singapore.

Also, a Brit Award-winning singer Mabel cancelled a scheduled show in Milan after a wider coronavirus outbreak in Italy.

Tokyo Disneyland will also shut for two weeks as Japan battles the coronavirus outbreak, Universal announced on Friday.

Brit Award-winning singer Mabel cancelled a show in Italy over coronavirus concerns. The canceled shows were slated to take place on April 11, 12, 18 and 19 at the Jamsil Olympic Stadium in Seoul. 

Fashion Events and Festivals Cancelled:
On Friday, French label Agnès B joined five Chinese brands - Shiatzy Chen, Masha Ma, Uma Wang, Calvin Luo and Maison Mai - in cancelling its much anticipated Paris show. 


Giorgio Armani cancelled invitations to his catwalk show with less than 24 hours' notice, staging the event to empty seats and instructing guests to stay home and watch the live stream from their hotel rooms. 


Fashion weeks in Beijing and Shanghai scheduled for March have been cancelled.


The festival on the City of Water, which draws tens of thousands of visitors a year, was cut short by two days.

Several festivals in Japan and across Asia have since been called off with the rising fears of Coronavirus.

Religious Places Affected:
The Saudi government announced it is temporarily banning foreign pilgrims from entering the country, which is home to the Muslim holy cities of Mecca and Medina.

Sporting Events:

The opening races of the Formula One season are under threat of cancellation as the coronavirus outbreak continues to spread outside China.

Several matches in the Serie A were postponed due to fears of the deadly virus. Among those postponed is the much-anticipated clash between Juventus and Inter Milan, AC Milan v Genoa, Parma v SPAL, Sassuolo v Brescia and also Udinese vs Fiorentina.

The South Korean Football League (K-League) and Basketball league have also been suspended in fear of the Coronavirus. The K-League new season was scheduled to start earlier last month.

Several other sporting events hang in balance should the rate at which the virus spreads not simmer down.

Facebook F8 Conference in San Jose scheduled for May 5th and 6th 

Google Cloud Next in San Francisco will be an online event 

The Geneva International Motor Show in Geneva, Switzerland 

Facebook Global Marketing Summit in San Francisco which was scheduled for March 16th to 20th 

The Game Developers Conference will not happen until summer for fears of Coronavirus.
