KAMPALA - The Uganda Wildlife Marathon 2020 edition will take place this Sunday, starting from the Uganda Museum.

Proceeds from the charity run will go into educating children of fallen game rangers.

Deputy Speaker of Parliament Jacob Oulanyah will be the chief runner.

"The rangers put their lives on the line to serve the interests of the authority," said UWA executive director Sam Mwandha on Thursday during the launch of the run at the UWA offices in Kampala.

"The funds from the marathon are a way of appreciating the work done by the gallant men and women who lost their lives in an attempt to save the wildlife.

"Some of them left children behind, so we are fundraising for their education," he added.

Registration for the 5km, 10km, 21km and 42km categories is still on.

Elite athletes Ronald Musagala and Sarah Chelengat and others are expected to participate.
